Driving in the UK |
To be able to drive in the UK you must have a suitable driving licence, and also
the Law requires you to have at least a minimum of a third party liability
insurance. Your Stansted airport car hire company will insure you for this
purpose. Normally they will provide fully comprehensive insurance with an
excess liability in the case of an accident. This excess can be wavered with an
additional premium this is called LDW or Loss Damage Waiver. Normally you must be
at least 21 years of age (a surcharge may be needed for young drivers). You
will need to present a Driving license issued in your own name and your country
of residence.
You will also require a current credit card and in some instances
a second form of identification for the hire of luxury vehicles. A deposit is
secured on the credit card sometimes for fuel and damage insurance. Vehicles
are normally supplied with a full tank of fuel and they are required to be
returned the same.
