As an example we selected a Ryanair flight from Stansted Airport to Almeria Airport departing 3 March 2006 returning 11 March 2006 this was priced at £19.95 + airport taxes of £15.18 departing Stansted and £19.95 + taxes of £9.33 making a total of £64.49 for the return trip to Stansted. In comparison we priced an Easyjet flight on the same route on the same dates the price came in at £59.98 including taxes return. This Irish based Airline headed by Michael O’Leary started in 1985 has now become one of Europe’s largest low fare carriers. They are regularly increasing the number of Ryanair routes in to Spain and now fly to 12 Spanish destinations.
Easyjet
This budget airline started flying in October 1995 from its main U.K. hub based at London Luton. It fast became one of the leading low budget websites with Easyjet.com first operating in 1998 and by June 2000 3 million seats had been sold on line. Easyjet, at the time of this article, flies to 12 Spanish destinations including Ibiza and Palma.
Opodo
Opodo is an online booking agent owned by major travel related companies who are Air France, Alitalia, KLM, Lufthansa, Aer Lingus, Finnair, Amadeus, British Airways, Iberia and Austrian Airlines. The site may be worth exploring if you have limited time to shop around.

This Irish airline formed in 1936 as Aer Lingus Teoranta by the Irish government as a private airline. Monarch Airlines
Monarch Airlines started life in 1967 beginning with two aircraft, now they have a fleet of 22. The flymonarch website started in 2000 with online bookings for scheduled passengers. Monarch now flies to 7 destinations in Spain.
Jet2
Channel Express (air services) Ltd now called Jet2 have been flying commercially for 25 years. Jet2 commencing in 2003 from Leeds Bradford Airport has flown over 2 million passengers. At present Jet2 fly to 7 Destinations in Spain but will be adding flights to Menorca (Mahon) in May 26 2006.
British Airways
British Airways began as far back as 1935 formally call Allied British Airways. In 1939 it merged with Imperial airlines to form a state owned airline BOAC British overseas airline corporation. BOAC became today’s British Airways PLC after merging with British European Airways BEA in 1973.
