London Stansted to Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport

The city of Nice on the French Riviera has long been one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations. The budget airline easyJet operates two flights daily between London Stansted and Nice, although there is a reduced  service during the winter months. Visit their website at www.easyjet.com for more information or telephone (01235) 764377

Nice Airport is located only 6km (less than 4 miles) from Nice city centre and is adjacent to the coast. The airport has two terminals linked by a free shuttle service. All easyJet flights operate from terminal 2. Because of the airport’s proximity to the city centre taxi fares are very reasonable, with the rate set by the city council. Alternatively there is a bus service from
terminal 1 (Sunbus route 23) to the main train station (Gare Nice Ville) stopping at various points in the city centre en-route.

Nice is an excellent base from which to explore the Côte d'Azur, and there is a regular train service from Gare Nice Ville to the resorts of St Raphael, Monaco, Cannes and Antibes.

Tourist attractions in Nice include:

  • Musee Matisse. The great French impressionist artist Henri Matisse spent his winters in the up-market residential area of Cimiez. This museum, housed in a 17th century villa, features sculptures, paintings and drawings from throughout Matisse’s lifetime.
  • The Promenade. When people think of Nice it would probably be the Promenade des Anglais that immediately springs to mind. Perfect for a leisurely walk along by the luxurious seafront hotels and shingly beach as joggers and rollerbladers speed past you.
  • Old Town (Vieux Nice). Just a short walk inland from the beach is the old town with its picturesque narrow streets, art galleries and numerous old churches. This is a great area for food-lovers; there are ice-cream parlours selling every flavour imaginable and restaurants offering local cuisine and dishes from around the world. At nighttime there is a great atmosphere in the Old Town’s numerous bars with many playing live music. A climb up the hill of Colline du Château is worthwhile; from here there are marvellous views of the Old Town and port.
  • The Port.  Many antique dealers are located here alongside restaurants serving local specialities. You can also enjoy the view of millionaire’s yachts moored next to the locals’ small fishing boats.
